Choir Performs at the Food Festival

The Minerva Learning Trust Choir was delighted to perform at the Bridport Food Festival on 16th June. The four schools – The Sir John Colfox Academy, Bridport Primary School, St Mary’s and Burton Bradstock School are particularly grateful to Palmers Brewery who donated the profits from the bar at the Food Festival last year to the Minerval Learning Trust to support their music strategy.  As a result we have been able to employ further music staff, have purchased recorders and introduced more music teaching into the curriculum.   ‘2018 will be the third year that the profits from the Palmers Events Bar at Bridport Beer Festival have been donated to schools in West Dorset,’ said Darren Batten, Head Brewer & Director.

‘Palmers have a long association with the Beer Festival and more recently Bridport Food Festival. It’s a brilliant week of events that draws visitors to the town and which is well supported by the community. We are delighted that the proceeds from our bar will be able to support the Minerva Learning Trust again this year and it was great to see the choir performing at this year’s festival.’

“Performing at the festival was a “Thank you” to all in the local community who have supported the Minerva Learning Trust in the last two years” said David Powell who co-ordinates the music strategy.  “Our Choir and music teaching is moving from strength to strength as a result of all you have done to support us”.
