Primary Youth Speaks

Thursday 30th June 2016 saw the very first Bridport PRIMARY Youth Speaks competition.
Teams from four local schools took part in the debate challenge run by the Rotary club of Bridport. Friends, family, teachers and Rotarians watched as the four excellent young teams each made up of three Year 5 or 6 pupils presented their well thought out arguments.

The topics ranged from life in French schools to refugee children and were presented confidently and with immense passion. The audience were astounded at their professional attributes and ability to remember and project their speeches.

It was a well fought battle with runners up Powerstock taking the best speaker of the night award. But for overall performance and the highest number of points awarded for skill, presentation. Confidence and delivery BRIDPORT PRIMARY took home the winners accolade.

We are delighted with our young team and congratulate Eddie, Alfred and Lily for bringing home the first ever Primary Youth Speaks title.

Debate club will begin again at school in September when Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will be invited to chew over the issues of the day and challenge their friends to argue their point of view.
